Barbell Care and Maintenance
We are excited as you are about your shiny new Barbell!
Your barbell will require some maintenance to keep it in good shape for the life of the bar.
It is recommended you carry out the following maintenance to keep the barbell healthy and performing it's very best —frequency will vary based on climate and type of barbell.
|1) Use a plastic/nylon bristle brush and a mild detergent to clean the knurl.
2) Wipe down with 3:1 oil and brush into the knurl with a plastic bristle brush. The steel will soak the oil in and the bar will stay healthy.
3) Wipe off any excess oil with a dry towel.
The advantages of Ceracote:
1) Ceracote gives a barbell the best feel on the knurl because it is not a plating.
2) Ceracote is a mild protectant against oxidization.
The resistance of a barbell to oxidation depends on the type of steel and the coating.
Barbells at the higher end of the oxidation rate will require more care and maintenance to preserve their appearance.
Maintanance period subject to climate and humidity of particular area.
|Type of Barbell Surface||Oxidation Rate||Maintanance Period|
|Stainless Steel||Low||Quaterly Maintance|
|Hard Chrome||Medium||Monthly Maintance|
|Bare Steel||High||3 - 5 Day|
